Ok So just download this " http://j.mp/OJ3L3n " When you do that copy and paste the two .class files into your modpack! The nether has a lot of light sources: thousands of lava blocks and many fire blocks. Lighting updates for every chunk is checked per-tick, and that causes extreme lag in the nether. This little mod will fix it. Enjoy Lemme know how it works!
Thori, this works very well. Thank you! One thing to note though, it only has 2 class files, not folders.
Considering I couldn't go 3 steps prior to the fix and afterwards I was able to explore relatively easily, I can finally go mining there. Just have to find a spot now!
Well, I know I couldn't go to the nether at all because it would just put me at a dead stop. After I threw those files in, worked amazingly well. I still get some processor lag, but it's no different than in the overworld.
I'm not on windows so don't know the root path, but in the techniclauncher file (where you would stick all your texture packs etc.) there is a folder for each of the mod packs. Select tekkie and open the bin folder. In it you will see a file called modpack.jar. You need to unarchive it past the 2 files in and make it back into a jar file. Follow the basic instructions you would find for a mod to add things to the minecraft.jar file. On mac. If you go into your home folder, then library (hold option key and click go and you will see library option), Application_Support, _technicpack. To unarchive there is a program called unarchive through app shop. To turn it back into jar you select all items in the modpack folder (created when you unarchive), choose to compress # of files from the secondary click menu, move archive.zip into the bin folder (it's in the mod pack folder by default) and rename it modpack.jar, and when warning pops up choose to use .jar.
For Windows it's the hidden Appdata/Roaming/.techniclauncher/tekkit/bin/modpack.jar that you're going to want to stick those files in. WinRar is a good program to open up .jar files.
Press the windows button, then type %appdata% and press enter. It will open a new window, in that window look for a folder called .techniclauncher. Open that folder. Find another folder called 'tekkit' Open that folder. Find another folder called 'bin' Open that folder. Right click 'modpack.jar' and open it with 7-zip or Winrar/Winzip. Open the FPS fix with 7-zip, Winrar/Winzip. Select all files inside the fix and drag that to into the modpack.jar Close all the windows, launch Tekkit. You have now installed the Nether FPS fix!
