The server will be undergoing maintenance and moving server racks at our datacenter tomorrow. This means a couple things. We will be experiencing downtime during the move but we are also being assigned a new IP address block. This means our DNS for connecting to the servers may not be immediately available to you when it comes back up. We are unsure of exactly what time this is going to happen only that is will be happening tomorrow. We will keep you updated!
How about giving us a few minutes to shut stuff down... I don't know if I'll be able to hammer to see when the server comes online, and it was dropped without a moment's notice, and I had like 20 empty crossbreeds going. Should be "fun" to come back to a wiped farm area...
A little trick for this for some that may work is to open a windows command prompt (In the search window type cmd, then look for it to pop up in the top, right click it and run as administrator) and once in there type ipconfig /flushdns This helps to clear out already cached DNS data and force a refresh from DNS servers. you'd only need to do this if you can't connect to it once its back up. Not sure how this would be done on a Mac though.
There are a couple things wrong with that comment, first, you should usually be ready for any tech issue/maitinance, and second, why would you keep that many empty crop block sitting around?
"sitting around"? Because I had just removed all my finished crossbreeds. How do you suggest I do IC2 crops, if I should never have any empty crossbreeders?
They didn't give me any time. Out of nowhere they were like "Yeah we are about to shut you down" so we hardly had time to react. Sorry for this. This will force your computer to get the latest DNS information from the servers BUT you are assuming those servers have also propagated
All right sct, no worries. Then it's out of your hands and I understand. Things happen. I had just died, was running back and was like "waaaaaaaaaaaait zomg my stickreed " but had no luck. :p
Working as a server admin at hosting company myself, this is unacceptable! :P We're forced to give 24-hour notice with times, the nerve!
Leaving out double crop blocks is fine, but why not destroy/replace crop blocks so they don't grow weeds right after you take out the plant?
No ETA at this time. They are moving multiple servers not just ours AFAIK. I will give you an update as soon as I have one.
:O does this mean a hardware upgrade as well?(doesnt know much about this kind of thing) even though i guess that would be redundant, since the servers getting great performance thanks to handydandy 3.0.3 :}
I don't think so warlord, sometimes hosting companies move the servers to different racks for various reasons.
